Heavy MTL 2010: Day 1

The one and only Heavy MTL festival scored big during the weekend of July 24th and 25th! More than 40 000 metal fans showed up from different cities to the Parc Jean Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, to headbang to their favourite metal bands.

Day 1 of the festival definitely had older fans as the promoters had legendary Alice Cooper, Slayer and Megadeth as the main headliners.

Alice Cooper definitely made a real show to the fans: big decorations spelling his name, changing costumes very often and throwing some of his props to his fans!

Slayer were heavy, fast and made the security guards work even harder to make sure no one got hurt when part of the barricade fell at the beginning of their set!

Megadeth, was surely longely awaited since their show in Montreal got postponed 2 times since last year. The fans left the island finally happy to see the legendary band live. For the lucky fans who "followed" the Heavy MTL festival on Twitter, Facebook or had downloaded the iPhone application, the promoters had a big surprise after the show: they announced that Megadeth was giving a free show at the Metropolis (capacity of a little more than 2000 people), on that same night! This was definitely a once in a life time experience!

During the day, metal heads switched from one stage to the other to see bands such as Anvil, Testament, Rob Halford and many more!
